Narrow shingle bank

In another image you can see how only six days earlier the crest of the shingle bank was twice as wide at the same height. During these 6 days we had no storms just wind runs of 60miles for 3 days. Shingle that has 'disappeared' from here probably will materialize along at Bracklesham Bay. I call this lateral drift. I do hope S.O.S. member John Napper who under the watchful, eyes of Roland and Co. extend the scientific survey on shingle movement, using their stones that are fitted with transponders. These in-turn are monitored and the recordings are subsequent plotted and mapped and can be viewed in programs as Google Earth, etc.

Wide shingle bank

unlike another image (19/1/2012) the shingle bank is twice as wide. The sea and waves are just so powerful.

Medmerry beach in fantastic condition

Due to the mild weather and the sterling work of the EA's drivers the shingle has not been undermined and looks in good condition.

Ps. This all changed on the 19th see one of the other photos.

BeachSavers Articulated Dumpers

This shingle is being reclaimed from the Bracklesham end of Medmerry. It has been washed off of our end of the beach and the lateral Westward drift has allowed its migration. Shame the groynes had been removed, otherwise this process need not have been employed. If the material had not been brought back there was a serious chance of 'over topping' or even breaching by the rough seas. Thankfully we are entering the waning days of the spring tides and the winds are easing.
