After all my years here at Medmerry, I have at last seen a 2nd row of 'breastworks' these 'Lateral Groynes' never showed throughout all the demolition and removal of the groynes from the beach.
The picture with the single row of breast works was taken on the 15th January. The twin row of lateral groynes was taken on the 26th January.
These had been covered by shingle and sand for so many years, the tops have been damaged but hopefully the rest will be left alone to keep the beach stabilised. Another thing! except for a smattering of stones and shingle, it is a sandy beach, honestly sand.
